Little Sakana All You Can Eat Sushi: Reviews & Ratings
A great all you can eat sushi option - the fish is fresh and honestly big portions! For AYCE, the fish to rice ratio is great and if you wanted you can pay ~$12 more pp to do the sashimi option which we will do the next time! Service is fast and super nice! The restaurant itself is a bit chaotic and loud (of course) but again, loved the experience and will be back!
We loved our food and had such a fun experience! I like that the portions are small so you can try lots of different things. Our waitress Katelyn was amazing and on top of everything, even on a busy Saturday. Some highlights for us were the Furikake Fries, Garlic Ponzu Nigiri, Volcano roll, and especially the Lemon roll, definitely a must try!
Review: Little Sakana – A Sushi Lover’s Paradise in San Diego If you’re looking for a top-tier All-You-Can-Eat (AYCE) sushi experience in San Diego, Little Sakana is an absolute must-visit. From the fresh cuts of fish to the creative specialty rolls and flavorful appetizers, this spot strikes the perfect balance between quality and quantity. Here is a breakdown of why this spot should be on your dining list: The Starters: Bold & Fresh We kicked things off with a variety of appetizers that set a high bar for the rest of the meal: * Garlic Edamame: Tossed in a savory, aromatic garlic sauce with plenty of crispy bits. It's addictive and way better than your standard salted version. * Seaweed & Cucumber Sunomono: The seaweed salad was vibrant and crunchy, while the cucumber salad provided a refreshing, vinegary palate cleanser between the richer rolls. * House Salad: Even the salad impressed with its thick, tangy ginger dressing and colorful beet curls. The Main Event: The Rolls & Nigiri The sushi here is where Little Sakana truly shines. The fish-to-rice ratio is excellent—a rarity in many AYCE spots. * Specialty Rolls: We tried several rolls topped with tempura crunch and eel sauce. The textures were spot on—crispy on the outside and melt-in-your-mouth fresh on the inside. * The Jalapeño Heat: One standout was a roll topped with fresh tuna and serrano/jalapeño slices. It delivered a clean, sharp kick that complemented the richness of the fish perfectly. * The Classics: The Avocado and Cucumber rolls were tightly packed and used perfectly ripe produce. For nigiri fans, the Inari (tofu skin) was sweet, juicy, and a great vegetarian-friendly bite. Atmosphere & Value The pricing is very competitive for the quality you receive: * Lunch: $31.99 * Dinner/Weekends: $39.99 * Bonus: They even offer a Premium Sashimi add-on for $12.99 if you want to go all out. The 2-hour time limit is more than enough to explore the expansive menu. Whether you’re at the Mira Mesa or South Bay location, the service is prompt, ensuring your next round of rolls arrives before you even have a chance to get hungry again. > Pro Tip: Don’t sleep on the "Kitchen Appetizers." The baked green mussels and gyoza are fantastic additions to a heavy sushi rotation. > Overall Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fresh, creative, and incredibly satisfying. Little Sakana remains one of the best value-for-money sushi spots in Southern California.
Everything was very tasty. We went for lunch right when they opened, scan the QR code by the entrance to check in, it gets full pretty fast. Service was 10/10, someone always cleaning up empty plates and your server ready to take your order. Although the fish was very good, the rice portions could have been so much better especially for the price point. The portion of rice was almost the same size as the fish, almost overpowering the fish taste. First time trying this place, and although tasty, will not be coming back due to the portions of rice.
have avoided coming here for years because it always looks insanely busy but surprisingly did not take long to get a table! service was fast and our waiter repeatedly checked in on us which was great! food was good! not pictured is an assorted sashimi salad that was absolutely delicious i 100% recommend it!!!
Awesome food, awesome service from our server Dom and the rest of the team, and good value. We would totally come again! Especially loved the suggestions from Dom including the umami oil salmon and yellowtail nigiri. Hand rolls were delicious as well.
Little Sakana in Mira Mesa is a solid choice when you’re craving all‑you‑can‑eat sushi without a long wait. The standout here is definitely the fast and efficient service—orders come out quickly, and the staff keeps things moving, which is great for an AYCE spot. As for the food, it’s good but not particularly memorable. The sushi is fresh enough and the menu has plenty of variety, but nothing really stands out as exceptional. It gets the job done if you’re hungry, but it’s not the type of place you go to for a special sushi experience. Overall, it's a dependable choice for a quick AYCE fix, especially if you value speed and consistency. The food is okay, the service is great, and you’ll leave full.
This was our first time trying an all you can eat sushi restaurant at the Mira Mesa location. It was not a long wait on a Sunday, though very busy. We loved the service, friendliness, individual menu option and the great tasty food. We also enjoyed the knowledge of sushi choice and expertise Dominic recommended. He made sure to go out of his way to make our day even more special. The parking lot was full but it was not long finding one. The food is so delicious that we will be coming back again.
